Middlesbrough set to complete the signing of SC Cambuur and Sierra Leone international left-back

According to Voetbal International, Middlesbrough are set to sign Alex Bangura from SC Cambuur. The Eerste Divisie side have given the 24-year-old left-back permission to travel to England, in order to complete the move. Bangura will soon be playing in the Championship.

Last season, Alex Bangura featured 29 times in the Eredivisie for Cambuur, who finished the season second from bottom. The Sierra Leone international captained the club as they suffered relegation back to the Dutch second tier.

Bangura also had offers from French Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 sides, but ultimately, he has always favoured a move to England. Other Championship sides including, Stoke City, Preston and Swansea were also looking to seal his signature, but Bangura has opted for a move to Middlesbrough. The former Feyenoord youth product had one year remaining on his contract at Cambuur, so now was the best time for the club to cash in.
