Middlesbrough defender Rav van den Berg and Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha called up to Netherlands U21 squad

The Netherlands U21 squad are preparing for their next round of qualification matches ahead of Euro 2025 in Slovakia. Head coach Michael Reiziger has announced his squad for the upcoming matches against Gibraltar U21’s and Sweden U21’s. The most notable news is that Middlesbrough’s Rav van den Berg and Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha are back in the selection after missing out on last month’s team.

Rav van den Berg has featured 11 times for Middlesbrough this season, having joined the Championship side from PEC Zwolle in the summer. The 19-year-old centre-back has helped Michael Carrick’s side regain form following a fairly shaky start to the campaign.

Former Sparta Rotterdam and Antwerp striker Emanuel Emegha is incredibly talented. The 20-year-old joined Strasbourg in the summer from Austrian outfit Sturm Graz, where he netted nine times in 27 appearances last season. With Strasbourg, he’s only been able to find the back of the net once in eight matches, but he’ll definitely be able to help Michael Reiziger’s Jong Oranje.

There’s still no sign of Ryan Gravenberch in either the senior or U21 squad. The midfielder opted out of international action during the last international break following his transfer from Bayern Munich to Liverpool. Gravenberch is currently suffering from a minor injury which Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp says is not serious.
