Michy Batshuayi and Lois Openda with chance to prove themselves as Romelu Lukaku remains side-lined

Roberto Martinez has confirmed that both Michy Batshuayi and Lois Openda will be given the chance to prove themselves in the upcoming warm-up match against Egypt in Kuwait. Local officials are expecting a crowd of nearly 50,000 for the warm up game.

As reported by Het Nieuwsblad, Martinez said “In the attack I will test Batshuayi and Openda. I can already confirm that It’s a good time to see what they can do. The team we play with tomorrow will not be our starting line-up at the World Cup. This is still preparation. Ideal to see how far the boys are and to get used to the climate”.

Former Chelsea and Dortmund striker Batshuayi has 5 goals in 7 games for Turkish giants Fernebache, while Openda also has 7 goals in his 15 appearances for Lens. Openda, who was on loan at Vitesse from Club Brugge last season, moved to Ligue 1 in the summer.

Both strikers will be hoping to prove enough to start in the opening match against World Cup debutants Canada on the 23rd of November. Romelu Lukaku remains on the side-lines with an injury that may keep him out of the group stages all together. Leandro Trossard and Jan Vertonghen will also miss the game against Egypt.
