Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui a surprise omission as Rigobert Song announces Cameroon World Cup squad

Gent’s experienced Cameroonian defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui was expected to be part of the 26 man squad for Cameroon at this years World Cup in Qatar. However, Rigobert Song has surprisingly left out the 31 year-old from his final squad. The Indomitable Lions will face favourites Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia in Group G.

Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui was part of the recent African Cup of Nations squad that was hosted by Cameroon, and has been capped 53 times for his country. Many expected that he would be part of the squad for Qatar, which could have been his last World Cup for the west-African nation.

The Belgian Pro League is represented in the squad, with KV Mechelen midfielder Samuel Oum-Gouet being called up. Oum-Gouet was also part of the most recent AFCON squad. The 23 year-old has struggled for regular game time at Mechelen, but appears to still be highly rated by Song.

Other notable players in the Indomitable Lions squad include André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, part of the Napoli squad that is leading Serie A. Former Standard Liege defender Colins Fai has also made the final 26.
