Björn Meijer will undergo a medical examination at Feyenoord on Friday, RTV Rijnmond claims (via VoetbalPrimeur). Extra attention will be paid to the 22-year-old defender’s right knee ahead of any potential transfer.
Currently, the transfer of Meijer to Feyenoord “is going smoothly”. A personal agreement was quickly reached with the Club Brugge left-back, and a deal has been reached with the Belgian club about the transfer fee. The medical examination remains the only thing that can throw a spanner in the works.
Those physical tests will take place on Friday, RTV Rijmond assured. “Meijer will report to Rotterdam for the medical examination, during which his right knee will be examined in detail.”
The Jong Oranje international was out for a long time last year with an injury to the joint. “If everything goes well, the left-back will soon be presented at Feyenoord.”
Meijer is seen in Rotterdam as a potential successor to Quilindschy Hartman, who has left for Burnley. He will compete with Gijs Smal for a place in Robin van Persie’s defence.
