Marco van Basten says Frenkie de Jong can make Barcelona president Joan Laporta “look like a d*ck” and has called on him to do so.
Laporta and the club tried to force De Jong out of the club in the summer and told him that he’d have to take a pay cut if he want to stay due to the club’s financial situation.
The Dutchman was keen to stay at Barca though and refused to leave or reduce his wages, opting not to publicly comment on the matter.
In a recent interview with Ziggo though, he stated that the club or media working with the club had spread lies about him, and the midfielder is seemingly growing unhappy with Laporta and co.
Van Basten understands why and hopes his compatriot goes after the president.
“The president plays a very bad role,” the Dutch legend said.
“He sweeps his street clean at the expense of these kinds of players. I really find that not okay.
“I hope De Jong continues to hit back hard. If he has the truth on his side, he can make Laporta look like an asshole. I really wouldn’t wait to do that. I can’t imagine Frenkie is lying, what’s the point?
“I wouldn’t want to deal with a man like Laporta again.”
