Manchester United looking to make Edwin van der Sar their new director of football

Manchester United are looking to bring Edwin van der Sar back to the club as their new director of football.

Since retiring as a player at the end of his final season representing the English club, Van der Sar has worked at Ajax first as their marketing director before being made CEO in 2016.

He has recently renewed his contract with the Eredivisie champions with it now lasting until 2025, but despite that, there is talk of him leaving to return to Old Trafford.

Speaking on Vandaag Inside, Chris Woerts stated that Man Utd have approached the Dutchman and that he’s interested in taking their offer.

“Manchester United approached him again this week [for the] director of football [job],” he said.

“Two years ago he said no, now he has been approached again. Don’t be surprised if he leaves. His dream has always been to be the technical director of Manchester United and he is on very good terms with Ten Hag.

“They want Van der Sar because of his status, and he has done well at Ajax.”
