KV Mechelen have missed out on one of their transfer targets in Dries Wouters. The former Schalke 04 man was on loan with the club for a second time last season, with the side interested in making the move permanent in the summer. However, Lommel have announced that Wouters has joined them on a contract up until 2027.
Lommel play in the second tier of Belgium football and are part of the City Group, a network of clubs connected to Manchester City. In past years the side have loaned a number of young exciting prospects from Manchester City. Their squad has always included a mixture of young players with more experienced players like Wouters. The side have also brought in former Charlton striker Igor Vertokele from Westerlo this summer.
While they missed out on Wouters, Mechelen were able to tie Kerim Mrabti down to a new contract. The club also have a new striker in former Eintracht Braunschweig forward Lion Lauberbach.
