Malick Fofana signs new Gent contract

Gent have announced that exciting young talent Malick Fofana has signed a deal until 2026. The 18-year-old is one of the brightest prospects in the Belgian Pro League and had his breakout season for the club last year. Fofana made 22 appearances for the side during the 2022/2023 season, providing two assists. He also made seven appearances in the Europa Conference League, providing two assists as well.

The winger has also been capped at U17 and U18 level for the Belgian national team, with expectations that he will make the step up to U21 in the near future. When Ibrahim Salah departed for Rennes in the January transfer window, it opened up the opportunity for Fofana to play more games. It is expected that he will feature heavily for the side next season, and it should not take long for him to score his first league goal for the Buffaloes.

Gent recently announced that Gambian international Sulayman Marreh has not had his contract renewed and will be leaving the club.
