Maccabi Tel Aviv v Gent Preview | Buffaloes battling for top spot in Serbia

Gent will travel to Serbia on Thursday night looking to secure top spot in their Europa Conference League Group. Their opponents, Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv, have been playing their games outside of the country since the conflict with Gaza intensified. Despite this, the side are currently second in the group just a point behind Gent.

The Belgian side are the only ones still unbeaten in the group, with four wins and one draw from their five matches. Therefore, a draw in Serbia will be enough to see them through as group winners. Last time out in Belgium Gent beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-0, with goals from Moroccan international Tarik Tissoudali. The 30-year-old is certainly beginning to rediscover his best form since injury, with three goals in his previous two matches. This season the former Beerschot man has scored 10 goals in all competitions, with three of these coming in the Conference League.

Both sides are already guaranteed to be in the next phase of the competition, with Zorya and Breidablik both far behind in terms of points. The Icelandic side will be hoping to pick up at least a draw when they face the Ukranian side to avoid finishing the competition with no points.
