Luton Town looking to bring in former Anderlecht star from Arsenal

Sky Sports News are reporting that Luton Town are looking to bring Albert Sambi Lokonga to Kenilworth Road. The former Anderlecht captain and prospect has struggled since joining Michael Arteta’s side. The 23-year-old spent the second half of the 2022/2023 season on loan at Crystal Palace, making nine appearances. Luton, like Crystal Palace, would like to bring Lokonga in on loan.

Lokonga played for Anderlecht as a teenager and broke into the first team at a young age. He impressed with his maturity and was a standout player between 2019 and 2021. During his career with the Mauves, Lokonga played 78 games and scored three goals. In the summer of 2021 Arsenal spent a reported €17.5m. He has only made 39 appearances for Arsenal since joining the London side.

Many would like to see the midfielder move on from Arsenal and find a club where he can get regular minutes to continue his development. There was plenty of hope that he would go on to become a future Belgian international during his time at Anderlecht. However, he remains on only one international cap for the senior side.
