Loïc Lapoussin arrested for drunk driving, with Union St Gilloise to impose extra sanctions on the player as he apologises for behaviour

Union St Gilloise star Loïc Lapoussin was arrested on Sunday morning for drunk driving after he parked in the middle of the road. As reported by Het Nieuwsblad, the midfielder faces the possibility of a driving ban and a fine. The club have also issues a statement confirming that they will impose extra sanctions on the player following the incident.

Lapoussin has come out and apologised for his behaviour, saying “I realize that I have made a mistake and would like to apologize publicly for this, also to my fellow players, staff, board and the entire Union family”.

Lapoussin joined the Brussels side in 2020 from Virton, following time with Red Star FC in France. The Madagascan international has made 16 appearances for the side in the league, scoring once and providing three assists. He featured in all 6 of the sides Europa League fixtures, providing two assists as Union won their group. Lapoussin was capped by Madagascar in 2020 and has gone on to make 11 appearances.
