Liverpool transfer target Micky van de Ven valued at €40m by Wolfsburg

According to the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, Liverpool are showing strong interest in Dutch defender Micky van de Ven. The 22-year-old has been valued at €40m (£34.4m) by his current club, Wolfsburg.

Van de Ven featured 36 times for Wolfsburg this season, as the Bundesliga side finished the campaign in 8th place. The former FC Volendam centre-back joined the club in August 2021. This season he’s emerged as one of Wolfsburg’s standout stars. Along with goalkeeper Koen Casteels, the left-footed defender played more minutes this season than anyone else in the squad (3,240). Now the Netherlands U21 international is on Liverpool’s radar.

The Reds are also reportedly interested in RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, but the Croatian’s price tag is thought to be significantly higher than Van de Ven’s. Incredibly, Van de Ven is ninth on the list for the highest top speed recorded in the Bundesliga this season. He recorded a top speed of 35.97 (km/h) which is higher than the likes of Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich) and Timo Werner (RB Leipzig).

Whether Micky van de Ven makes a move or not this summer, he’s certainly a player to keep an eye on. Liverpool would have to pay a high fee for the youngster seeing as his current contract runs until 2027.
