Lazio are showing strong interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joey Veerman, according to Eindhovens Dagblad. The 24-year-old central midfielder has had a superb campaign in the Eredivisie, scoring four times and providing 10 assists in 33 appearances as PSV finished the campaign in second place. The Italian Serie A side are now eyeing a move for the midfielder.
Joey Veerman kicked off his career in the Netherlands with FC Volendam. After making 81 appearances for the club he moved to Heerenveen in 2019. Another 81 appearances, 18 goals and 23 assists later, he joined PSV Eindhoven. He’s been superb ever since he moved to the Philips Stadion. Veerman can play in central midfield, defensive midfield and attacking midfield.Â
Veerman’s consistent goal contributions and positive performances in a PSV shirt earned him his first national team call-up in May. Last Sunday he made his debut for Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands team in their 3-2 Nations League defeat to Italy. He provided the assist for Georginio Wijnaldum’s 89th-minute goal. It comes as no surprise that other top European clubs are showing interest in the midfielder. Joey Veerman’s current contract expires in 2026, meaning an attractive fee would be required to pull him away from PSV.
