Senne Lammens on Manchester United move: โ€œItโ€™s almost surrealโ€

Senne Lammens can hardly believe heโ€™s a Manchester United player. The 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper is determined to help the club get back to where they want to be.

Antwerpโ€™s technical director, Marc Overmars, let Lammens leave for Manchester United for a record fee of โ‚ฌ21million (ยฃ18.2m) plus โ‚ฌ4m in add-ons. There, the stopper will compete with Andrรฉ Onana and Altay Bayindir.

โ€œBeing here now is almost surreal,โ€ said Lammens, who becomes the first Belgian to wear the Mancuniansโ€™ shirt since Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan in 2019. โ€œYou feel the grandeur. When I was about five, Manchester United were at the absolute top. You carry that feeling with you, and now Iโ€™m hereโ€ฆ itโ€™s almost surreal.โ€

โ€œThere were guys in my squad who played football in England. When I said I could move to Manchester United, you could see their expressions immediately change. Just the name of the club, the aura surrounding it.

โ€œI want to grow with this team. And bring the club back to a level where we can compete for the title and Champions League football again. To the level Manchester United once stood for.โ€
