As reported by HLN and others, KV Oostende’s board have cancelled training for the first team this Monday. This has led to speculation that experienced manager Yves Vanderhaeghe could be about to be sacked by the club.
Vanderhaeghe took over the club last February after Alexander Blessin left the club for Genoa in Serie A at the time. He was able to keep the club in the Pro League last season, and despite many predicting the side would struggle during the 2022/23 season the Kustboys did get off to a good start.
However, the side are currently in 14th spot and are just two points above the relegation zone. Their 4-2 defeat to reigning champions Club Brugge on Saturday night means they have won just one game in five, which was a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Zulte Waregem.
Vanderhaeghe has previously managed Cercle Brugge and KV Kortrijk. This is his second time in charge of KV Oostende.
