KV Mechelen’s Algerian defender Rafik Belghali attracting interest from Augsburg, Hellas Verona and Toulouse

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Rafik Belghali is attracting interest from top European leagues. The 23-year-old Algerian defender is about to enter the final year of his contract with KV Mechelen and the club may be forced to sell him in the summer. However, while the interest will be attractive to the defender, his ambition of playing for Algeria and making the upcoming AFCON in Morocco means he is set to prioritise playing football next season. As such, remaining with KV Mechelen may well be his best bet.

However, clubs such as Augsburg, Hellas Verona and Toulouse will hope to convince him to leave Belgium over the summer transfer window. Belghali has been a regular for KV Mechelen this season, scoring once and grabbing two assists in 35 game. He joined the side from Lommel last season and only made nine appearances. He is yet to win a cap for the Algerian national team.
