KV Mechelen have announced their third winter signing with the acquisition of Spanish goalkeeper Nacho Miras (27). The stopper was a free agent after leaving K.M.S.K. Deinze upon their declaration of bankruptcy in December 2024.
Miras came up through the ranks of Granada, yet in 2015, he left his home country for the United States to combine football with his studies. In 2022, he ended up at the now-defunct Deinze until their demise before the turn of the new year. Speaking to club media, Miras was full of praise for his new team:
“KV Mechelen is a great club, with a rich history and great supporters. When I heard that there was an opportunity here, I immediately wanted to grab it. Mechelen is a great club. I can’t wait to get started. Together with the team and the supporters, I hope to experience great moments here.”
In a statement regarding the move, Sporting Director Tim Matthys added to the high spirits:
“Due to Yannick Thoelen’s injury (he broke a bone in his foot during training) we had to act quickly. After Deinze went bankrupt, Nacho was a free agent. In East Flanders he had been a regular for a few years, so he has the experience to fill the void after Yannick’s injury.”
