KV Mechelen looking to sign Lion Lauberbach on a free from Eintracht Braunschweig

GVA is reporting that KV Mechelen are looking to sign Lion Lauberbach on a free. The 25-year-old striker’s contract is set to expire with Bundesliga 2 side Eintracth Braunschweig, and it appears that the tall forward is not looking to sign a new deal. Mechelen are in desperate need of forward reinforcements and could move for Lauberbach as a cheap option.

The former Holstein Kiel man joined the club on a free in the summer of 2021. Since then, he has scored 17 goals in 70 appearances for the club, with eight assists. During his first season at the club he scored 12 goals as they won promotion from the 3. Liga back to the second tier of German football. This season he only managed four league goals in 34 games, with another coming in the DFB Pokal.

Lauberbach has also spent time on loan at FSV Zwickau and FC Hansa Rostock, although he failed to score in 11 games for the latter.
