KV Mechelen and Besnik Hasi begin contract extension talks

HLN are reporting that KV Mechelen have begun negotiations with head coach Besnik Hasi over an extension to his contract. Hasi has turned the side completely around since arriving on a deal that was only set to run until the end of the current season. The side were in trouble of being involved in the relegation scrap, but under Hasi they went on a strong run that saw them almost make the top six. They are still very much in with a chance of European football if they can win play-off two.

Unsurprisingly, given the form of the side there has been reported interest from elsewhere in Hasi. However, as HLN state, the head coach appears keen to continue the work he has started this season. This may well be without goalkeeper Gaëtan Coucke, whose contract is also set to expire in the summer. Celtic were interested in the 25-year-old previously, and there are rumours that they may return to sign him on a free in the summer.
