KV Kortrijk announce departures of former Hertha Berlin defender and Uruguayan striker

KV Kortrijk have announced that both Felipe Avenatti and Christalino Atemona will not be returning to the club next season. Former Hertha Berlin man Atemona joined the side on a free transfer back in the winter of 2023 but struggled to make a real impact with the club. The former German youth international leaves Kortrijk having played just 13 games in one and a half seasons, only two of which came during the 2023/2024 campaign.

Avenatti has played for a number of Belgian clubs over the past few seasons. This was his second spell with Kortrijk, having been on loan with the club from Bologna back in 2018. He has since played for Standard Liege, Beerschot, Union Saint-Gilloise and Antwerp. The 31-yer-old scored just three goals during the 2023/2024 season, in which he played 36 games for the club. In total, he leaves Kortrijk having played 99 games and scoring 26 goals. His first season with the side remains the best he had in his career, scoring 15 goals in 31 games.
