Kortrijk sign former Southampton and Celtic prospect from Bohemian FC

Kortrijk have announced the signing of Jonathan Afolabi from Bohemian FC on a contract until the summer of 2026. The former Southampton Academy product and Celtic striker will be looked upon to provide the goals that can give the side a chance of avoiding relegation to the Challenger Pro League at the end of the season.

Afolabi, who is eligible to represent both Nigeria and Ireland, was joint top scorer in the Irish league this past season with 15 goals in 34 games. He also provided five assists.

Afolabi began his career with Southampton, but never made a first team appearance for the club. In the summer of 2019 he joined Celtic, but much of his time with the Glasgow side were spent on loan at sides such as Dunfermline and Dundee FC. In the summer of 2022 he joined Bohemian FC on a free, joining midway through their 2022 campaign. Overall he played 42 times for the Dublin side, scoring 21 goals.
