Kortrijk allow ‘Malaysian Messi’ Luqman Hakim to join UMF Njardvik on loan

UMF Njardvik have announced the loan signing of Luqman Hakim from Kortrijk on loan. the 20-year-old, who has been dubbed the Malaysian Messi, moved from Malaysia to Belgium in the summer of 2020. He has spent the majority of his time with the sides U21 and reserves, with just two appearances in the first team. Luqman Hakim will remain in Iceland for the entire of their 2023 domestic season.

The young attacker has already been capped twice by the Malaysian national team, whist also representing the country at every youth level. Njardvik currently play in the second tier of Icelandic football.

This move caps off an active transfer window for the relegation threatened side. Alongside Nikolas Dyhr from Midtjylland, they brought in Martin Wasinski from Charleroi, Hertha Berlin young defender Christalino Atemona and winger Martin Regali from Slovakian side Ruzomberok.

Despite a new manager bounce when Bernd Storck was brought in to replace Adnan Custovic, they honeymoon period appears to be over for Kortrijk.
