Konyaspor and Kasimpasa interested in signing former Abderdeen defender from KV Mechelen

According to Sacha Tavolieri, David Bates is attracting interest from two Turkish sides. Konyaspor and Kasimpasa are both interested in signing the KV Mechelen defender, who has started 14 of the 18 games he has played in the Pro League this season. The 27-year-old has become a regular starter under new head coach Besnik Hasi recently. However, Mechelen are in need of money to improve the squad, so an offer that reaches their valuation of the Scottish defender may well see him leave this January.

Bates signed a contract until 2025 with Mechelen back in September 2022. He has gone on to make 50 appearances for Mechelen, scoring four times. Prior to that, he had spent a season with Aberdeen. Bates has played for a number of sides during his career, with Mechelen being his second Belgian side after Cercle Brugge. He has also had spells with Rangers, Raith Rovers, Brechin City and Hamburg.
