Karel Geraerts on Nice managerial shortlist

Het Nieuwsblad have revealed that Union St Gilloise head coach Karel Geraerts is one of a number of names to appear on the shortlist for the Nice vacancy. Geraerts, who took over from Felice Mazzu in the summer, has led Union to a second season of challenging for the title. This has seen his name linked with the vacancy at Club Brugge, as well as at a few unnamed German clubs. HNB have reported that there has been no contact between the clubs as of yet.

The head coach has been coy on where he will be next season, giving little away as he focuses on trying to deliver a title for Union for the first time in many decades. The side fell short during the play-offs last season, yet this year they are just one point behind Antwerp after a 3-0 victory over Genk.

Union and Antwerp will face each other after the next matchday, and should both win their respective fixtures prior to this clash, Antwerp would seal the title with a win at home. Should Union win, they will go into the last game just needing to better Antwerp’s score to win the title.
