Arsenal have officially announced the signing of Jurrien Timber from Ajax on a long-term contract. The 22-year-old Netherlands international defender is set to bring his talent and versatility to the Arsenal squad after the Gunners agreed on a deal worth €40 million initially which could rise up to €45 million with add-ons.
During his time at Ajax, Timber established himself as a key member of the team, making 121 senior appearances across various competitions. His impressive performances caught the attention of the national team selectors, and he earned a call-up to the Netherlands squad for UEFA Euro 2020 and the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup. Timber made his senior international debut in June 2021, starting in a friendly match against Scotland, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
