Jorrel Hato departure not a given: โ€œAjax is home for meโ€

As conversations with Ajax club media have shown, Jorrel Hatoโ€™s summer departure is not a given. The youngster has enjoyed some heavy interest from several top European clubs, but he seems open to a longer stay in Amsterdam.

Arsenal and Chelsea, in particular, have been tracking the 19-year-old Hato, who was asked about his future plans. โ€œThe smartest thing is to look at it per season. Thatโ€™s what I do,โ€ said the defender. โ€œOf course, you want to achieve things in the end: the Champions League, a World Cup and a European Championship.โ€

โ€œI still have plenty of time. I donโ€™t think: I absolutely have to win the Champions League in two years,โ€ Hato continued his story. What is the youngsterโ€™s ultimate football dream? โ€œThat is winning a World Cup. You want to be there when it happens.โ€

Hato has already faced Lamine Yamal with the Dutch national team, but in the Eredivisie the Ajax defender cannot compete with such top players. He spoke of the domestic dynamic.

โ€œIn the Dutch league, you have to show how good you are against the big clubs. Ultimately, I have to continue to develop the things I am already good at, so that it becomes the best. How do I describe my time at Ajax? Ajax is home for me. I just feel at home here.โ€
