RWDM made it four wins on the bounce with a 1-0 win at home against Lokeren this weekend. The side, who were relegated from the Pro League after just one season last year, look set to bounce straight back. This run of form has seen the side, owned by John Textor, leapfrog Zulte Waregem into first spot in the Challenger Pro League. Under Yannick Ferrera RWDM have a one point lead over the side that have been leading most of the way this season. More importantly, they have built a three point gap over RAAL in third, who have played a game more.
This run has been built on steely defence. All four of these wins have been by just one goal to nil. Yet the unbeaten run extends far beyond the last four games. RWDM have not tasted defeat since the 23rd of November, when they lost at hoe to SK Beveren. 12 games later, the side are yet to taste defeat. Next up is the other form side in the league, SK Beveren. RWDM will travel to Beveren on Friday evening hoping to get revenge for their earlier season defeat.
Beveren have a potent strike force this season, but they will have to try and get the better of a defence that has conceded just 17 goals in 23 games, the best in the league. With five games to go, things are really starting to heat up in the second tier of Belgian football. Neutrals will be hoping that it all comes down to the final day of the season, with Zulte Waregem and RWDM facing each other.
