Jesper Fredberg wants to bring Nicolas Bürgy to Anderlecht from his former side

LDH are reporting that Anderlecht are keen to add Viborg central defender Nicolas Bürgy. The 27-year-old former Swiss international cost the Danish side €500k last summer after spending the 2021/2022 season on loan from Young Boys. The central defender began his career with the side from Bern, where he made 46 appearances and scored two goals in eight years in the first team.

Much of Bürgy’s time with Young Boys was spent on loan. He has played for three other Swiss sides in FC Thun, FC Aarau and FC Wohlen. He did join Paderborn in the 2. Bundesliga on loan but failed to make any appearances after joining for the second half of the 2020/2021 season. Over the course of a loan spell and since moving their permanently, Bürgy has played 52 games for Viborg, scoring four goals. Last season the side finished third in the regular season and fourth in the Championship play-offs. Fredberg was responsible for signing Bürgy from Young Boys when he was Sporting Director at Viborg before moving to Anderlecht.
