In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, Anderlecht sporting director Jesper Fredberg has responded to rumours that Eden Hazard may be joining the club. While the Dane was keen to iterate that he has the ‘upmost’ respect for Hazard, the former Belgian international and Chelsea star is not the profile of player that Anderlecht are looking to add to their side. Hazard is currently without a club following his departure from Real Madrid.
Anderlecht have had a slower than predicted time in the transfer window this summer, with many fans and Belgian media questioning why they haven’t brought in more players. Given they finished 11th last season and missed out on any of the play-offs, and thus European football, there were expectations that the club would be active in overhauling the squad.
So far, the main incoming transfer has been Danish striker Kasper Dolberg. The side are in the market for a wide player, as well as a new goalkeeper following the departure of Bart Verbruggen to Brighton.
