Jesper Daland remains focused on Cercle Brugge amid Monaco rumours

Speaking to the media following their 2-0 defeat in the cup to Gent, Cercle Brugge defender Jesper Daland reiterated that his focus remains on performing for the Green and Blacks. The Norweigan has been linked with a move to Cercle’s parent club Monaco following a trial over the World Cup break, as well an appearance for the Ligue 1 side during a friendly.

As reported by HLN, Daland said “No one has to doubt that my thoughts are still completely with Cercle Brugge”. Daland played an hour for Monaco against Fiorentina but claims he is still not sure what the future will bring. The defender said “A nice experience. I had some good conversations with Phillippe Clement, But don’t ask me what will come of it. I have no idea. At the moment I assume that I will definitely stay with Cercle until the summer“.

After a difficult start to the season, Cercle Brugge were one of the inform sides going into the World Cup break. Under coach Miron Muslic, who replaced Dominik Thalhammer (now at KV Oostende), Cercle have moved away from the relegation zone and are just outside of the play-offs. Daland has been a key player for Cercle since joining from Norwegian side Start in 2021.
