OH Leuven suffered another defeat this weekend when they lost 2-1 at home against newly promoted RAAL La Louviere. Despite an early goal from the returning Sory Kaba, the side succumbed twice to 18-year-old Jerry Afriyie. The Ghanaian striker grabbed his first two goals for the club since joining on loan from Saudi Arabian side Al Qadasiya. The result means that OH Leuven sit second bottom after eight games and questions will now be raised about the appointment of David Hubert this summer.
In truth, Hubertโs side looked poor and lacked any real ideas about how to get back into the game. During the final 20 minutes they failed to create any clear cut chances and were lucky to not get caught on the counter by RAAL on more than one occasion. This lacklustre display will certainly not be what the clubโs hierarchy would have been hoping for after a 2-0 defeat to Zulte Waregem last weekend. Prior to the international break, OH Leuven had put together back to back 1-0 wins over Dender and Standard Liege. Yet these were not convincing and look to have papered over the cracks.
Hubert will likely get a little longer to prove he is the right man for the job. The problem is that he joined a club that has been underachieving for a number of seasons now. They face a tricky clash with Anderlecht next.
