In form Paul Onuachu claims he is almost back to full fitness

Following their 1-0 win over OH Leuven at the weekend, Genk went top of the league. The side have only lost one game all season, and also had to do without their leading striker Paul Onuachu for most of this season. However, Onuachu is now back, and it was his goal that was the difference at the weekend.

Speaking in HLN, the Nigerian striker said he is starting to feel back to full fitness. “I notice in myself that I am gradually back on track and that I am almost 100 percent. I just want to play, have fun and meet the coach’s demand. I enjoy his confidence.

Since coming back from injury, Onuachu has got six goals, which have all come in his last five matches. Onuachu set a record for goals scored in the 2020/21 season with an incredible 33 goals in 38 matches. Last season he managed 21 goals in 35 matches.

Genk face Antwerp on Sunday in a fixture between the top two. Antwerp will be without Radja Nainggolan, as the former Inter Milan midfielder has been expelled from the first team squad for off-field behaviour.
