Jordi De Koninck is reporting that KV Mechelen defender Daam Foulon is back in contention. While the defender is unlikely to start this weekend’s away clash with high flying Union St Gilloise, he should be fit enough to make the bench. This is a major boost for the side, who have been really struggling in recent weeks. Foulon was a key player last season and to start this one until he got injured, and in many ways his absence has coincided with the sides downturn in form.
Foulon has been out since the 5th of December. He has played 15 matches this season, scoring twice and grabbing three assists. Despite having missed over two months, he remains third in total assists for Mechelen this season. The side themselves have not won since the 24th of November and are sliding into a relegation battle many did not see them being part of just a few months ago. Mechelen are in the bottom four, with 28 points from 25 games. They are just one point from safety and, once they get Union out of the way, have four games against sides they should have a chance of beating to end the regular season.
