According to BILD, Hoffenheim have reached an agreement to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley. Having spent the second half of last season on loan with Manchester United, the 31-year-old Dutch striker is set to move back to the Bundesliga. Weghorst joined Burnley from German outfit VfL Wolfsburg in January 2022 for around €17.5m.
Wout Weghorst spent the first half of last season on loan with Besiktas. The former Heracles Almelo and AZ Alkmaar striker scored eight goals in 16 Turkish Süper Lig appearances before terminating his contract to move to Manchester United. In 31 appearances for United, Weghorst found the back of the net just twice. Now, Burnley head coach Vincent Kompany has decided to send the 22-time Netherlands international out on-loan again.Â
Weghorst will complete his medical tests today before signing for Hoffenheim, who finished in 12th position in the Bundesliga last season. For newly promoted Burnley, four striker options will be left available ahead of their opening game of the season against Manchester City this Friday. Zeki Amdouni, Lyle Foster, Michael Obafemi and Jay Rodriguez are their remaining strikers.
