Hibs loanee scores yet again as Oostende keep unlikely cup final dream alive

Despite all of their off-field troubles, Oostende are still alive in the Belgian cup. The side welcomed defending cup and league champions Antwerp to the Belgian coast for the first leg of their cup semi-final. After beating RWDM in their quarter-final, the Challenger Pro League side were looking to cause another cup set.

However, Antwerp took the lead through Mahamadou Doumbia. The Malian teenager scored his second goal of the season for the side, with his first having been a blockbuster strike against Standard Liege two games ago. Yet Oostende’s on loan Scottish midfielder Ewan Henderson grabbed his second cup goal of the season. The 23-year-old on loan from Hibernian has been in great form for the side this season, adding cup goals to the four goals he has scored in the league.

With the game ending 1-1, Oostende still have a chance of making an unlikely cup final. The side did make the final during the 2016/2017 season, facing Zulte Waregem. Unfortunately, for Oostende they ended up on the losing side that day. The game ended 3-3, with Zulte Waregem winning on penalties.
