Hein Vanhaezebrouck beats Will Still and Wouter Vrancken to win the Raymond Goethals Trophy

Hein Vanhaezebrouck won the Raymond Goethals trophy for the second time yesterday. The Gent manager won it for the second time, having previously won it in 2015. Vanhaezebrouck beat Will Still of Stade Reims and Wouter Vrancken of Genk to win the trophy. Under Vanhaezebrouck the side went to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League, losing out to eventual winners West Ham over two legs. They also won play-off two to secure another European ticket to the Conference League. They will play Maccabi Haifa in the play-offs next February.

Vanhaezebrouck has been in charge of the Buffaloes since December 2020. He had previously been in charge of Gent, helping them win their most recent title in 2015. Since returning he has won the domestic cup, beating Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht in 2022 on penalties. The side are hoping that this year they will have a chance to add another Pro League title to the trophy cabinet come the end of the season.
