Heerenveen bid farewell to Iraqi winger after just eight matches

Swedish-born Iraqi international Danilo Al-Saed is leaving Friesland. The 26-year-old left winger is swapping SC Heerenveen for Swedish club BK Häcken.

Al-Saed arrived in the Netherlands a year ago with considerable expectations. “We’ve often said that SC Heerenveen needs talented players on the wings,” said technical director Ferry de Haan at the time. “We think Danilo, who can play on both flanks, fits this profile well.”

Unfortunately, Al-Saed failed to live up to expectations in his first six months, prompting a loan move to AIK at the end of January. At Heerenveen, his appearances have been limited to eight official matches, in which he provided one assist.

BK Häcken are currently eighth in the Swedish league. Former Feyenoord and FC Utrecht midfielder Simon Gustafsson is the team’s captain.
