Heerenveen benefit from Coventry manโ€™s multi-million-euro Bundesliga transfer

As Joost Blaauwhof and Bart Kruijt report for VI, Coventry Cityโ€™s Milan van Ewijk is joining Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.

Van Ewijk is on his way to a reunion with Paul Simonis at Wolfsburg. The German clubโ€™s manager worked with the Coventry City wing-back at SC Heerenveen, and that club are set to benefit from the defenderโ€™s transfer.

Coventry City are reportedly set to receive around 10 million euros for Van Ewijk, with fixed bonuses increasing that amount to 12 million euros.

Heerenveen sold Van Ewijk to the Championship club in the summer of 2023 for around โ‚ฌ4.5 million. According to well-informed sources, the Frisians also negotiated a resale percentage at the time. This would amount to 10 per cent of Coventryโ€™s transfer profit. A substantial financial windfall is expected at the Abe Lenstra Stadium.

Van Ewijk moves to Germany after spending two seasons in England. At Coventry, he made 90 league appearances, and so far this term, leaves for the Bundesliga on good form. He has already provided three assists in three matches.
