Hedwiges Maduro appointed as interim manager of Ajax following the sacking of Maurice Steijn

Maurice Steijn has officially been sacked as manager of Ajax following the Amsterdam club’s worst ever start to a league season. The decision was made by the Ajax board just two days before their crucial clash against Brighton in the Europa League. According to Voetbal International, Hedwiges Maduro will be interim manager for the upcoming matches with Brighton and PSV.

Hedwiges Maduro has spent the start of the season as assistant manager to Maurice Steijn. The former Ajax midfielder now has all the responsibilities on his shoulders until Ajax can find a new head coach. Maduro previously spent two seasons as assistant manager with Almere City.

Ajax are currently second-bottom of the Eredivisie having lost four and won just one of their opening seven matches. They’re off to their worst start to a season since the Eredivisie began in 1956. Maurice Steijn evidently wasn’t the man for the job, so, who should Ajax appoint as their next head coach?
