Hans Kraay Jr believes Louis Van Gaal would take Belgian job

Former Dutch international and current analyst Hans Kraay Jr believes that current Oranje coach Louis Van Gaal would take over from Roberto Martinez if the Belgian FA offered him the job. As reported by Voetbalkrant, Kraay said “One thing I know for sure. If Van Gaal is asked by the Belgians, he will 99.99% agree with the proposal. Why should he stop? It’s a great time to step into the project”.

The former Barcelona and Manchester United head coach returned to the Dutch national team in 2021, having previously led the team between 2012 and 2014. The Dutchman has guided the side into the quarter-finals of the Qatar World Cup, where they will face one of the favourites in Argentina.

Prior to the game with the United States Van Gaal had joked about speaking to his wife regarding taking over from Martinez, and did not dismiss the potential chance of taking over at the Red Devils. He was also quick to point out that his Oranje side had beaten the Belgian team twice during the Nations League campaign.

Van Gaal’s contract with the Netherlands national side will be up at the end of the 2022 tournament.
