Go Ahead Eagles v AZ Alkmaar preview: Go Ahead Eagles and AZ Alkmaar go head-to-head in cup final repeat

Less than two weeks after their heart-breaking KNVB final loss in Rotterdam, AZ Alkmaar are looking for revenge as they look to end their eight match winless run.

With the KNVB cup final finishing 1-1 after 120 minutes, Go Ahead Eagles defeated AZ 4-2 on penalties to win their first major trophy in 92 years.

Now, AZ must travel to Deventer to forget their cup heartbreak, and to solidify their European play-off place.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Alkmaar boss Maarten Martens says, โ€œI want to see a certain behaviour from my players on Sunday: that we are looking for sporting revenge. I want to see conviction, especially in personality. When things are going well, it is easy to pull the cart. The situation is different now.โ€ Jordy Clasie, Troy Parrott and Kristijan Belic remain sidelined for De Kaasboeren.

Whilst Alkmaar lie in 6th place, Go Ahead Eagles sit in 7th, level on 47 points, but with a far inferior goal difference. Having not finished higher than 9th in the Dutch top flight since 1971, the Eagles are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in the clubโ€™s history. One of their key players has been Oliver Antman, who has recorded six goals and 14 assists this campaign.

Kick off is at 14:30 CET.
