With Milan Smit having moved to Stoke City, Go Ahead Eagles are in the market for a replacement. According to VI, they have turned their attention t the Dutch second tier and De Graafschap. Bouke Boersma is expected to take a step up to join Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie for around โฌ1m, meaning the side have spent very little of the โฌ5.5m Stoke City paid for Smit on a replacement.
The new Stoke City signing had provided the side with 10 goals in 28 games this season and will certainly be missed. However, like Boersma, he also made the step up from the Dutch second tier a few seasons ago. Now, he has been rewarded with a move to Stoke City and English football.
Go Ahead Eagles will hope that the 20-year-old Boersma can be just as successful. This season has been a real breakout year for Boersma, who has played 22 games for De Graafschap, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists. The side will certainly be sad to see him go, as they currently sit third in the table and will be hoping to qualify for the promotion play offs. They are some way off of the top two in Cambuur and ADO Den Haag.
Alongside Boersma, Go Ahead Eagles are said to also be interested in Birmingham City defender Alfons Sampsted.
