Oscar Pettersson (25) was a late deadline day signing for Go Ahead Eagles. The Swedish right winger joined from IFK Göteborg and signed a contract in Deventer until mid-2028 with an option for another year.
Pettersson fills the spot left by Bobby Adekanye after he signed for Amed SK earlier this month. Go Ahead looked at several options in recent weeks, but ended up in Scandinavia again. Earlier on Tuesday, the club also presented a Norwegian in Oskar Sivertsen as successor to his compatriot Oliver Edvardsen. The Nordic contingent on the Vetkampstraat now consists of three Danes, two Swedes, a Norwegian and a Finn.
Pettersson joined Gothenburg in 2024 from Brommapojkarna, where he made 23 appearances in the past Allsvenskan season, scoring twice. For GAE, his prospective move came into the picture at the last moment. The need for a new forward became even greater as De Graafschap’s Tristan van Gilst turned his nose up at a contract proposal, while Søren Tengstedt has to recover from a broken foot in the coming months.
Paul Bosvelt, technical director at Vetkampstraat, spoke about Petterson on the club website: “We have been following Oscar since his time at Brommapojkarna. At the time, we were already very positive about him and we tried to bring him to Deventer. With his depth and footballing ability, he has the profile of a classic right winger, but a bit more of this time.”
