Oliver Antman has left Go Ahead Eagles for Glasgow Rangers. This was announced by both clubs on Monday. According to the Deventer-based side, the star winger leaves for the Scottish giants for a record fee.
The 23-year-old Finnish international Antman signs a five-year contract at Ibrox and is Rangersโ ninth acquisition of the season. โItโs fantastic to be here. Itโs been a hectic few days, but Iโm looking forward to meeting my teammates,โ he said on the clubโs website.
โI was immediately intrigued by Rangersโ interest. Itโs a very big club, and you donโt get opportunities like this very often in life,โ Antman added.
Manager Russell Martin is thrilled with Antmanโs arrival in Glasgow. โWeโve been tracking him for a while, and his versatility in attack really adds to the attacking line. Heโs a hungry player, and I hope he can be a valuable asset to us this season.โ
Antman was crucial for the Dutch Cup winners last season. In 36 official matches, the Finn scored six goals and provided a league-topping 16 assists. So far, Go Ahead have only seen Enric Llansana leave for Anderlecht. The squad has been strengthened with the addition of RKC Waalwijk star Richonell Margaret.
Go Aheadโs director, Jan Willem van Dop, previously stated that catalysts Antman and Jakob Breum would not be allowed to leave Deventer for less than six million euros. While the transfer fee is still unclear, journalist Chris Jack claims it amounts to almost 3.5 million euros. De Telegraaf, however, have already assured that the sum, including bonuses, could reach 6 million euros.
