Glen De Boeck reveals sorry state of Vincent Tan’s Kortrijk

In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, former Kortrijk head coach Glen De Boeck revealed the sorry state of the club owned by Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan. According to De Boeck, the training fields were so bad that they joked about who would let the cows back in after they had trained. He also revealed that the players had no hot water to shower after training for 14 days.

De Boeck was also critical of those who had called him unprofessional for a variety of stories. One was that he travelled separately from the squad for the game to Eupen. De Boeck claimed that while he did, he had informed the team and arrived ahead of them and left last.

He also addressed the removal of Abdelkahar Kadri as the teams captain. De Boeck said he didn’t see the Algerian midfielder as a leader, stating that the club had only given him the captaincy in order to keep him at the club. The Belgian head coach said that there had been a conversation with Kadri which had initially gone well about changing captain, but afterwards the players agent was said to have complained.

Whether or not De Boeck’s stories are believed or not, from the outside Kortrijk appears to be a side destined for the drop. They are set to appoint their third manager of the season and its not even January yet. Tan still wants to sell the club, but as each match week goes passed the value of Kortrijk continues to drop.
