Gianni Bruno in negotiations with Parma over move to Italy

HLN are reporting that Gent’s 31-year-old striker Gianni Bruno is in talks with Parma. The striker spent last season on loan with Sint-Truiden, where he ended as the sides top scorer with 20 goals in all competitions. Bruno scored almost half of the clubs goals and may well have finished with more had the side qualified for the play-offs. This came off the back of a disappointing first season in Gent, where the striker was often injured and unable to show his talents. It appears that KV Mechelen and Westerlo were interested in the striker, but he appears set to depart Belgium for Italy.

Prior to joining Gent, Bruno had been at Zulte Waregem. During his final season with the club he scored 20 goals in 34 games, the best return of his career. In 67 games for the club he managed 32 goals overall. The striker began his career in France with Lille, before having spells in Russia with Krylya Sovetov. He first moved to Belgium in the summer of 2017, spending two seasons with Cercle Brugge. In 49 games for the Green and Black he scored 16 goals.

Bruno has Italian links and has been eligible to represent Italy at national level. At a younger age he made a handful appearances for the Belgian U19 and U21 sides.
