Gianni Bruno closing in on career best goal tally

Gianni Bruno grabbed his 15th league goal of the season against Union St Gilloise at the weekend, giving him 17 goals in total for Sint-Truiden in 30 games. The 31-year-old striker on loan from Gent is closing in on his best ever season, which was 20 goals in 34 games for Zulte Waregem in the 2020/2021 season. Bruno now has three games left to beat his 20 goals, with games against Oostende, Cercle Brugge and Antwerp. His 15 league goals means he has scored almost half of Sint-Truiden’s goals this season, with the side having scored 31 goals in 31 games.

Bruno will return to Gent in the summer with just one year left on his contract. However, after having scored just twice in 16 games for the Buffaloes last season it appears that the side will be looking to move the striker on to a new club. There will certainly be plenty of suitors within the Belgian league for the experienced striker.

It remains unclear whether or not Sint-Truiden will be able to bring Bruno back next season, with the side set for a summer of transition.
