Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Toku loaned to Aalborg BK less than a year after joining OH Leuven

OH Leuven have allowed 23-year-old Emmanuel Toku to depart the club on loan. The Ghanaian midfielder is joining Danish side Aalborg BK for the 2023/2024 season. There is a purchase option included in the deal. Over the past year, many of the signings that OH Leuven signed last summer and in January have already moved on to new clubs. Toku only joined Leuven in the 2023 winter window from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv. He made just three appearances for the side during his time in Belgium. During his time in Bulgaria, the midfielder had scored eight goals in 70 games.

Leuven are one of five teams in the Pro League who are yet to win, with fans beginning to lose patience with the club. Their poor track record on transfers, alongside a disappointing start to the season, has seen fans question the position of head coach Marc Brys. The experienced head coach has been in charge for a number of years now, but the fans have lost patience and faith in him to take the club to the next level. The departure of Toku, just over eight months after joining, will certainly not help the situation.
