Georginio Wijnaldum on rumours he could return to PSV or Feyenoord: “A return to the Netherlands is not my first option”

Having recently been linked with a return to PSV or Feyenoord, Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that returning to the Eredivisie is not his first option. Speaking to Voetbal International after the Netherlands’ 3-2 defeat to Italy on Sunday, the 32-year-old midfielder said ‘I’ve been reading all kinds of things about PSV and Feyenoord in recent days, but that’s not the issue now.’

Wijnaldum spent last season on loan at AS Roma from Paris Saint-Germain. The former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder featured just 14 times in Serie A, and he’s since returned to Paris. Wijnaldum has fallen down the pecking order at PSG and it’s likely he’ll be making a move away from the Parc des Princes. Georginio Wijnaldum’s former clubs, PSV and Feyenoord, have reportedly been interested in re-signing him, but the midfielder says the two teams aren’t his first choice.

‘’I’m going to keep all options open this summer, but a return is not my first option. I don’t know if clubs have applied, then you have to be with my agent. We now have time to sort everything out,’ Wijnaldum said.
